Love #45, Spring in Ettrema

"Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance"  Richard Harris

In the 1850s, a young girl Tilly Anne got lost in Ettrema Tops while searching for six well bred mares that had bolted. She survived the wilderness by milking her own horse into her shoe. A week after becoming lost she found the missing horses, and shortly afterwards, happened upon a young gold miner who had become stuck in a cleft and had been calling for help for days. Rescuing him, they emerged back to safety. Shortly afterwards, they married.

Today, the highlands of the Ettrema Wilderness where Tilly became lost, is uninhabited. The old folk living at the nearby community of Sassafras still remember.
