Paradoxa

Spur Velleia (Velleia paradoxa) is an uncommon fanflower (Australian wildflower) found in the Southern Tallaganda wilderness.

The flower lasts only a day or so, but each plant may continue to flower over an extended period. Closely related plants may appear to spawn different shaped flowers and the same flower may change shape: a paradox (a paradox is a thing that combines contradictory features or which appears to defy logical explanation).

Here, the thin frills decorating sides fan out to catch moisture, creasing when dry.

Looks like an Iris but is not an Iris. Love the main image. The spots and drops high light the beautiful yellow.
